Batavia Police Break Up Teen Drinking Party

"Charges are pending against two adults who allegedly hosted the party," a police report says.

Batavia police are about to issue a press release following the Nov. 1 report of a major teen-drinking party and possible charges leveled against the adult hosts of the party.

According to a report filed at 9:31 p.m. Nov. 1, Batavia police responded to the 200 block of South Prairie Street on a complaint about a loud party and possibly underage drinking. When police arrived, "50 to 75 subjects fled the residence," reports said.

Officers detained numerous subjects. Contact was made with 21 minors who were drinking, with ordinance citations to be issued. Contact was made with 12 additional juveniles who were are at the party but not drinking, reports said.

"Charges are pending against two adults who allegedly hosted the party," the report said.

Batavia Det. Sgt. Shawn Mazza said he believes a release will be issued "in the very near future."

"There are a number of investigative/administrative leads that our patrol division are still working on," he said.
