The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was shot and killed Monday by a Kane County Sheriff's Office sergeant.
Luke Bulzak, 52, of Batavia was pronounced dead by Provena Mercy Medical Center personnel at 7:22 p.m. Monday, July 8, according to the Coroner's Office.
An autopsy was expected to take place Tuesday afternoon and toxicology samples
will be sent to a forensic lab, the Coroner's Office said.
"The cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results," according to the release. "The Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office in their ongoing investigation of this incident. No further information is available at this time."
The shooting occurred around 11:40 a.m. Monday, July 8, at 3S303 Elfstrom Trail in rural Batavia.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bulzak was "making suicidal threats." The Sheriff's Office said Bulzak pointed a rifle at deputies, and a sheriff’s sergeant shot him.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police are conducting a review of the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.

The sergeant who shot the subject has not yet been identified. He is a 20-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has been placed on paid administrative leave pending a review of the incident.
