Dave Schele ran Close Encounters Body Shop in North Aurora for 30 years. One of his brothers talks about his life and how he'll be remembered.
David Schele was passionate about three things: his family, cars and helping people. "(Dave was) an outgoing, happy person, jovial and extremely giving," his brother Brian Schele said on Sunday. "He’s the type of person that would give you his last dollar and not expect anything in return." David Schele owned and operated the Close Encounters Collision Center body shop in North Aurora for just over 30 years. Schele, a Sugar Grove resident, died Friday in a two-car crash on Randall Road in Batavia. He was 61. Brian Schele does not know much more about the crash other than what was reported in the media. Police on Saturday morning identified the man who died after a two-car crash Friday on Randall Road. The man is 61-year-old David A. Schele of Sugar Grove, according to Batavia police. Schele died due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to a police press release issued Saturday. "Schele had been transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL," the release said. "The cause of the crash is still under investigation." Schele's vehicle and another vehicle with a male and female inside were involved in the crash, which occurred at Randall Road and McKee Street in Batavia. Update: Batavia police Saturday morning identified the man who died after the crash. One man was taken to a hospital and two other people were treated and released after a two-car crash late Friday afternoon on Batavia's west side. The serious crash occurred in the area of Randall Road and McKee Street. Batavia police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene at about 6:22 p.m., according to a police press release issued late Friday night.
