David Schele was passionate about three things: his family, cars and helping people. "(Dave was) an outgoing, happy person, jovial and extremely giving," his brother Brian Schele said on Sunday. "He’s the type of person that would give you his last dollar and not expect anything in return." David Schele owned and operated the Close Encounters Collision Center body shop in North Aurora for just over 30 years. Schele, a Sugar Grove resident, died Friday in a two-car crash on Randall Road in Batavia. He was 61. Brian Schele does not know much more about the crash other than what was reported in the media. Police on Saturday morning identified the man who died after a two-car crash Friday on Randall Road. The man is 61-year-old David A. Schele of Sugar Grove, according to Batavia police. Schele died due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to a police press release issued Saturday. "Schele had been transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL," the release said. "The cause of the crash is still under investigation." Update: Batavia police Saturday morning identified the man who died after the crash. One man was taken to a hospital and two other people were treated and released after a two-car crash late Friday afternoon on Batavia's west side. The serious crash occurred in the area of Randall Road and McKee Street. Batavia police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene at about 6:22 p.m., according to a police press release issued late Friday night. Police Tuesday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a car vs. truck crash west of Elburn. The driver is 78-year-old Lorella Huff, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Huff was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry north on Francis Road. For reasons unknown, she did not stop at the stop sign for Route 38, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. Huff's car entered the intersection and struck a 2012 Hino box truck heading west on Route 38. Traffic on Route 38 does not have a stop sign. The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man from Roselle, was uninjured. Huff was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver of a car stolen in Wheaton that then plowed head-on into a vehicle in Campton Hills on Dec. 1, killing a Maple Park man, had a blood-alcohol content that was nearly three times greater than the limit for driving under the influence, authorities said Friday. The toxicology report on Jennifer Liston, 30, of Madison, Wis., showed she had a blood-alcohol level of .229, well above the .08 legal limit, as well as other controlled substances in her system, the Campton Hills Police Department said in a release. “Though Liston’s blood-alcohol content was not ruled the cause of death, I can, with a reasonable amount of surety, say that it was a major contributing factor in the cause of the accident,” said Chief Dan Hoffman. A visitation has been scheduled for the man who died in Monday's car crash on Route 25 near Batavia. A celebration of life for Karl K. Smith, of St. Charles, will be held this Saturday, Jan. 12 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. Visitation and celebration will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the home. After the visitation, a reception will be held at the Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. The driver is 45-year-old Karl Smith of St. Charles, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
