Batavia Woman Accused of Battery Was Defending Herself, Sister Says

The 38-year-old woman charged in Sunday's incident was trying to protect herself against her boyfriend, the sister told Patch. Here is what she had to say.

The sister of a Batavia woman facing aggravated domestic battery charges claims her sibling was in harm's way and defending herself during Sunday's incident. Annette Romano said details initially released by police about a Nov. 4 disturbance at sister Diane Romano's house do not tell the whole story. According to Annette Romano, her sister's boyfriend was hitting her and would not stop. Annette Romano said her nephew tried to intervene in the situation between his mother and her boyfriend. "The son got into the middle of the fight, and that’s how he got hit," Annette Romano said. Police would not confirm the details Annette Romano gave of the incident, citing an open investigation. UPDATE: A sister of the woman accused in this story has come forward with an account of what happened during the Nov. 4 disturbance. A 38-year-old Batavia woman was charged Monday in connection to a Sunday disturbance that involved multiple stab wounds. Diane J. Romano, of the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue, received the following charges: The charges result from what Batavia Police describe as a family disturbance involving two men and Romano. Officers were called to a home on the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue at 2:34 a.m. Sunday. They found the two men, ages 19 and 34, with non-life threatening stab wounds. If convicted, Romano could receive up to seven years in prison for a class 2 felony, up to five years in prison…

Batavia Residents React To Neighborhood Stabbing Incident

Locals became uneasy at the news, but at least one neighbor still feels safe in the area.

Batavia residents were shocked to hear of Sunday's stabbing incident on the city's west side. Word traveled fast across social media and the Internet once police announced that they found two men with multiple stab wounds in a home early Sunday morning on the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue. No charges were announced Sunday afternoon and no further information was released for the day. Police Find 2 Men With Stab Wounds in Batavia Home on Sunday

The men, ages 19 and 34, suffered multiple stabs wounds. Here's what happened.

UPDATE: A Batavia woman has been charged in connection to this incident. A sister of the woman has also come forward with an account of what happened. Two men were found stabbed in a home on Batavia's west side Sunday morning, police said. Officers were called to the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue at 2:34 a.m., according to Batavia Police. Upon arriving, officers found two men, ages 19 and 34, with multiple stab wounds. "Both victims were conscious at the scene and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries," a Batavia Police statement said. Police Investigate Rt. 25 Shooting, Work Crime Scene (PHOTOS)

Police sought out why two men shot two other men in an apartment south of Butterfield Road on Tuesday. These photos detail some of the investigative work at the crime scene.

Multiple police departments in the Tri-Cities on Tuesday assisted with a day-long investigation into a home invasion and shooting in North Aurora. The photos on this page illustrate some of the police work completed outside a building on the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia). The investigation findings are not public, but what police did reveal was that two men were shot by two other men in one of the building's apartments. Police were called to the scene at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday. Crime scene investigators took photos and marked spots along the ground outside a building.
