Latest three overnight break-ins are in Oswego. Is it the Smash-and-Grab Burglar, a copycat or coincidence?
Oswego Police are investigating several recent overnight burglaries to Oswego businesses, similar in pattern to a slew of recent nighttime break-ins by the so-called Smash-and-Grab Burglar. Two businesses at West Van Buren and Adams Street in downtown Oswego were broken into, as well as a business in the 300 block of Fifth Street off of Route 34. "They are all hair-type salon businesses," said Oswego police captain Jeff Burgner. The overnight break-ins were all reported at about 7:30 a.m. on March 16. Burgner said an undetermined amount of cash was stolen from each business, but no products or supplies. "We do believe there is a common link," said Burgner, as only salon-type businesses have been targeted. Burgner said the Oswego Police …

Four burglaries in Aurora look very similar—and happened in the same time period—as Friday's Citgo burglary in Geneva.
Batavia residents and businesses should be aware of a string of gas-station burglaries that have taken place in Aurora of late and look similar to the Friday burglary just north of Batavia at the Geneva Citgo near the train depot. The Daily Herald reports Tuesday that the "smash and grab" burglar has struck four more times in Aurora during the period of March 8 through March 17—three times at a gas station and once at a liquor store. All were in the early hours of the morning, ranging from 1:15 a.m. to 2:10 a.m. The DH says the total loss of the four Aurora burglaries, including items or cash stolen and property damage, is more than $26,500. The incident are of interest to Batavia because the burglar obviously roves—the latest in Aurora …
