No Charges Filed in St. Charles Stabbing Early Tuesday

St. Charles police took two men into custody during the investigation, but neither wanted to press charges.

Neither of two men involved in an altercation that led to a stabbing early Tuesday were willing to sign a complaint, so no charges have been filed in what St. Charles police described Wednesday as an “unusual case.” Police said Wednesday that in most cases, a victim is willing to sign a complaint in a stabbing, but neither man suffered serious, life-threatening wounds. The man who was stabbed was treated at Delnor Hospital in Geneva and then was released. Officers responded at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a stabbing at 200 N. 15th St., where witnesses told them the two men involved had left on foot. Murder-Suicide Case Closed in North Aurora

Police name a 58-year-old resident as the suspect.

The investigation into an Oct. 29 murder-suicide that ended in the death of a man and woman on Route 31 is now closed, police said. Jon S. Neel was the suspect in the case, said Scott Buziecki, North Aurora deputy police chief. North Aurora police had no interaction with Neel prior to this incident. But on Oct. 29, officers were dispatched at 8:51 p.m. to Eden Supportive Living, 311 S. Lincolnway, for a suicidal resident who was threatening to jump from his third-floor apartment window. On-site security at the building identified the resident as Neel, 58. UPDATE: A sister of the woman accused in this story has come forward with an account of what happened during the Nov. 4 disturbance. A 38-year-old Batavia woman was charged Monday in connection to a Sunday disturbance that involved multiple stab wounds. Diane J. Romano, of the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue, received the following charges: The charges result from what Batavia Police describe as a family disturbance involving two men and Romano. Officers were called to a home on the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue at 2:34 a.m. Sunday. They found the two men, ages 19 and 34, with non-life threatening stab wounds. If convicted, Romano could receive up to seven years in prison for a class 2 felony, up to five years in prison…

Batavia Residents React To Neighborhood Stabbing Incident

Locals became uneasy at the news, but at least one neighbor still feels safe in the area.

Batavia residents were shocked to hear of Sunday's stabbing incident on the city's west side. Word traveled fast across social media and the Internet once police announced that they found two men with multiple stab wounds in a home early Sunday morning on the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue. No charges were announced Sunday afternoon and no further information was released for the day. Two men were found stabbed in a home on Batavia's west side Sunday morning, police said. Officers were called to the first block of North Van Nortwick Avenue at 2:34 a.m., according to Batavia Police. Upon arriving, officers found two men, ages 19 and 34, with multiple stab wounds. Residents Grieve For 2 Dead in Murder-Suicide

The 58-year-old man who jumped out of a window Monday had passed an extensive background check, the building's director said.

The residents and staff members of a Route 31 apartment complex struggled to come to terms with the death of two residents after a murder-suicide there this week. Most of the Eden Supportive Living's 150-member community spoke with a counselor individually or in a group setting, said Barbara Lawrence, director of the apartment complex, on Wednesday. "We’re hanging in there," Lawrence said. "It’s a horrible tragedy, it’s affected everyone in the building." Police were called to the complex, 311 S. Man in Batavia Stabbing Gets 3 Years in Prison

Calvin M. Hayes stabbed his coworker at their Batavia workplace in May, police said.

A 54-year-old Chicago man was sentenced this month in connection with a stabbing in Batavia outside his workplace. Calvin M. Hayes will serve three years in prison, according to Illinois Department of Corrections inmate records. He was admitted to a state correctional facility on Sept. 11. Hayes was accused of stabbing a male co-worker on May 21 after their early-morning shifts ended. The incident occurred at a parking lot outside the Suncast Corporation, 701 N. Kirk Road, according to the Batavia Police Department. Hayes pleaded guilty Sept. 6 to an aggravated battery charge in connection to the incident, according to Kane County court records. UPDATE: Accused North Aurora Murderer Held on $1.8 Million Bail

Martrell Harris remains in custody at the Kane County Jail after a Monday stabbing incident in which his father died.

A North Aurora man accused of murdering his father remains in the Kane County Jail on a $1.8 million bail. Martrell Harris faces two counts of first-degree murder following a stabbing Monday at the Harris family home in North Aurora. To apply for bond and be released, Harris or someone else needs to post 10 percent of the bail, or $180,000. There is also a hold on Harris in Cook County for a 2011 case involving PCS, or possession of a controlled substance, according to jail records. If Harris posts bond on the Kane County murder charges, he would have to report to Cook County for the separate charges. POLICE: Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Stabbing of Father in North Aurora

This 23-year-old is accused of stabbing his father on Monday, according to police. He was later found hiding under a pile of debris.

A 23-year-old North Aurora man faces two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his father on Monday, police said. Martrell D. Harris is accused of stabbing his father, Michael D. Harris, Sr., in the chest, according to a North Aurora Police Department press release. Officers were dispatched at 10:12 a.m. Monday to the Harris home on the 700 block of Jorstad Lane for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, the officers found Harris Sr. unresponsive on the front porch.  He was transported to Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora by North Aurora Fire Department paramedics.
