Route 64 Reconstruction Ready to Kick into Full Gear April 1

Construction crews already have begin shifting traffic patterns in preparation for final season of three-year project.

Construction along the East Main Street/Route 64 corridor is gearing up to get into full swing during a week in which construction crews have closed lanes and redirected others in preparation for the final season of the $49 million reconstruction project. St. Charles Public Works Engineering Manager James Bernahl, in an email to residents and businesses on Thursday, said this week’s work largely has involved getting crews and equipment back to the construction site in preparation for the work that lies ahead. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect: Beginning Thursday, Bernahl wrote, the contractor was slated to begin removing asphalt grindings forming the temporary shoulders along Smith and Kautz roads. Campton Hills House Theft Suspect Ready for Deal with Prosectors?

Reports: Recently captured fugitive Daniel R. Kellogg appears in Kane County courtroom.

The area man who in 2011 reportedly fled to Turkey to avoid imprisonment on fraud and theft charges related to the theft of a home he rented in Campton Hills appears ready to make a deal with prosecutors, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Daniel R. Kellogg, 38, who was arrested in St. Charles on Jan. 19, appeared in Judge John Barsanti’s court on Thursday and said he wants to make a deal, according to the Chronicle, which also reported that Kellogg told the judge he wanted to represent himself. Barsanti talked him out of it, and appointed a public defender to represent Kellogg. Campton Hills police were assisted by St. Charles police and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 19 in arresting Kellogg, 38, after authorities received a tip…

Woman Charged With Identity Theft of 65-Year-Old Colorado Resident

Two separate cases of identity theft were reported in the St. Charles police blotter this week. Identity Theft Arrest in St. Charles Isabel Lopez, 42, of the 700 block of West Brown Street, West Chicago, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 25, at her place of employment in the 3600 block of Swenson Avenue in St. Charles on one count of aggravated identity theft, a Class 1 felony. According to St. Charles police, a 65-year-old Lakewood, CO, resident reported to police there that someone in St. Charles, IL, was using her Social Security number. Lakewood police traced the use of the number to a St. Charles business address and then contacted St. Charles police. St. Charles police arrested Lopez at the business, and the Kane County State’s Attorney’s …

Best Buy's announcement that it will allow in-store customers to price-match online retailers by showing the price on their smartphones has been matched by Target and Super Target, according to BFAds.net, a website devoted to Black Friday and gift-shopping alerts.
