Man Survives Monday-Night Shooting in West Chicago; Police Say Victim Was Targeted

Police in West Chicago are investigating Monday night shooting in 300 block of Barber Street.

West Chicago police are investigating a Monday-night shooting whose victim apparently was targeted. The West Chicago Police Department said the shooting occurred about 9:25 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, in the 300 block of Barber Street. Police said a victim, identified only as a male, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening. “The victim appears to have been targeted, and no additional threat to public safety is believed to exist at this time,” the department said in a release on Tuesday. “However, residents are always encouraged to report any suspicious activity.” Police said more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Dog Killed, Arrest Made in March 1 Home Invasion; 1 Suspect Still at Large

Quintin D. Mullen, 22, faces charges that police say was "not a random attack."

A suspect has been arrested and charges have been filed in the March 1 home invasion and shooting incident in the 200 block of Laurel Drive, North Aurora police report. Detectives identified Quintin D. Mullen, 22, of the 1700 block of Felten Road, Aurora as a suspect and then issued an “Attempt To Locate” bulletin to area police agencies on Monday night. Mullen was arrested by officers of the Aurora Police Department around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the 2300 block of Ogden Avenue, Aurora. Aurora police turned Mullen over to North Aurora police, and he was held overnight at the North Aurora Police Department. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against Mullen: Mullen appeared at a bond hearing …

Home Invasion, Shooting Reported in North Aurora Friday Afternoon

Two men ran off with a safe and shot a dog. Here are the suspect descriptions.

Police are in search of two men who forced their way into a North Aurora duplex Friday afternoon, held the residents at gunpoint and shot a dog three times. The home invasion occurred at a duplex in the 200 block of Laurel Drive on the village's east side, according to a police statement. North Aurora police officers were dispatched to the block at about 1:21 p.m. for a dog that had been shot. "Upon arrival, officers discovered that a home invasion had taken place," the statement said. "Officers learned that the residents heard a knock at the door and, before they could open the door, the suspects kicked the door open and displayed a gun." Police: Route 25 Home Invasion was Drug-Related, 3 People Charged

Three residents of an apartment where a home invasion took place earlier this month now face drug charges, police announced on Friday. Two of the three men charged were shot during an Oct. 2 home invasion at their apartment, located on the 100 block of South River Road in North Aurora near the Fox River. "The investigation has determined that this home invasion was drug-related," a North Aurora Police Department statement said. "No further information is available at this time as to the offenders in the home invasion." Drug-related charges were approved and arrest warrants were issued for the three residents of the apartment where the home invasion occurred. Baldemar A. Police: Shooting Suspects Never Found Item During Home Invasion

Investigators are looking for two men in connection to the Oct. 2 incident on Route 25.

The two men who invaded an apartment and shot at two other men in North Aurora last week never found the item they were looking for, police said. The item the men demanded was not in the apartment, located on the 100 block of South River Road, said Scott Buziecki, North Aurora Deputy Police Chief. Buziecki said he could not reveal what the item was, but said it was not in police custody last week. Buziecki also said there was no evidence of forced entry during the incident, which occurred at about 7 a.m. Oct. 2. The two men knocked on the door of an apartment in the building. Police on Wednesday released a possible motive for the Tuesday shooting and home invasion of two men in North Aurora. "Detectives believe that the motive for this crime was theft of an item," a North Aurora Police Department statement said. "It is also believed that the suspects have a connection to the victims, either direct or indirect." The two suspects went to the apartment of the two men, ages 22 and 23, and demanded they hand over an item. The item was not specified in the police statement. When asked by Batavia Patch, Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki said he couldn't say what the item was at this time. Police Investigate Rt. 25 Shooting, Work Crime Scene (PHOTOS)

Police sought out why two men shot two other men in an apartment south of Butterfield Road on Tuesday. These photos detail some of the investigative work at the crime scene.

Multiple police departments in the Tri-Cities on Tuesday assisted with a day-long investigation into a home invasion and shooting in North Aurora. The photos on this page illustrate some of the police work completed outside a building on the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia). The investigation findings are not public, but what police did reveal was that two men were shot by two other men in one of the building's apartments. Police were called to the scene at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday. Crime scene investigators took photos and marked spots along the ground outside a building. 2 Men Shot Survive, At Least 1 Handgun Used

The two people shot during Tuesday's home invasion in North Aurora survived, police said. A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm and another man, 23, was shot in the chest, according to a North Aurora Police Department press release. Officers were dispatched at 7:05 a.m. to an apartment building in the 100 block of South River Road (Rt. 25 south of Batavia) for the shooting. Officers discovered that the shooting took place in one of the apartments and that there were two men with gunshot wounds. The men were conscious and able to exit the building on their own. UPDATE: Police released more information about the two people shot (includes photos from crime scene). Police searched Tuesday morning for two shooting suspects in North Aurora. Two people were shot during a home invasion on the 100 block of South River Road—Route 25, one block south of Butterfield Road near the Fox River—sometime before 8 a.m., according to an alert message from North Aurora police. Condition reports on the people shot were not immediately available. The suspects are described as two Hispanic men, each about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 to 170 pounds. Mourners Honor John Larimer After Fatal 'Dark Knight' Shooting

The visitation for the Aurora, Colorado shooting victim was held at the Davenport Family Funeral Home on Friday.

Flags lined the sidewalks and entrance of the Davenport Family Funeral Home on Friday as a steady stream of mourners arrived to remember the life of John T. Larimer, a 27-year-old Navy Petty Officer from Crystal Lake. Larimer was killed on July 20 as he shielded Julia Vojtsek, of Algonquin, in the Colorado massacre at the Century 16 Movie Theatre. They were attending a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" Batman movie. While Larimer lost his life at a young age, his legacy of bravery will most certainly last. “He was just a great guy who would do anything for anybody,” said Ryan Dreifke, a friend who met Larimer at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. “He was passionate, he knew how to have a good time, he knew when to say the …
