Crash Update: Teen Cited Twice, Woman's Car Flips Over

The 16-year-old told police that his brakes went out. They will investigate his claim. Here are the details.

A 16-year-old from unincorporated St. Charles received two citations Monday after a three-car crash near South Elgin, police said. The boy and two other drivers were all sent to different hospitals with injuries following the crash, which occurred at the intersection of McDonald and Stevens roads in unincorporated Elgin. Kane County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to a press release. The boy was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His car collided with the crossover SUV of a 55-year-old woman from unincorporated Hampshire. Her vehicle, in turn, struck the car of a 21-year-old man from unincorporated Elgin. The intersection was closed…

3-Car Crash Sends 3 Drivers to Area Hospitals Near South Elgin Monday

The intersection of McDonald and Stevens roads was completely shut down.

Update: A 16-year-old was cited twice in connection to this crash. A three-vehicle crash with injuries shut down an intersection near South Elgin Monday afternoon, police said. The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of McDonald Road and Stevens Road in unincorporated Elgin Township, said Pat Gengler, Kane County Sheriff's Office spokesman. The intersection of McDonald and Stevens roads was closed in all directions while investigators processed the scene—please avoid the area if possible. All three vehicles were occupied only by their drivers. All three drivers were transported to area hospitals.   Further details on the crash were not immediately available. 1 Teen Dead, 1 Injured After Car Crash Sunday in NW Kane County

The driver and front-seat passenger fled the crash on foot, police said. The two backseat passengers had to be extricated from the vehicle. Here are the details.

A 17-year-old Elgin teen is dead after a one-car crash this weekend in northwest Kane County, police said. Lawrence Echols was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash west of the town of Burlington early Sunday, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at 12:50 a.m. Echols was riding in the back seat of a 2007 Lincoln MKZ sedan. Echols and another backseat passenger, Shadontre Smith of South Elgin, had to be extricated from the vehicle. The sedan was traveling west on Plank Road between Engel and West County Line roads at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, the Sheriff's Office said. The sedan crossed the center line and eventually left the roadway on the south side of Plank Road…
