Winning ticket stashed away for more than three months.
OUTSIDE CHICAGO, IL -- “I can’t believe I had $4.85 million in a cookie jar for over three months!” said Ricardo Cerezo after recently checking some old Lottery tickets and discovering he had won a jackpot prize of $4,850,000 in the Feb. 2 Lotto drawing. “I’m awestruck, this is unbelievable!” Cerezo said. Today, May 15, 2013, Illinois Lottery officials presented him with a commemorative check at the Aurora 7-Eleven where he bought his winning ticket. At his wife’s urging, Cerezo took 11 tickets that had accumulated in their cookie jar to the store to check them. The first seven tickets he scanned were not winners, but when he placed the eighth ticket under the scanner, the message “File a claim” appeared. “I thought I had probably won …

The 7-Eleven streak of lottery winners in Batavia continues. “I always play Raffle, I like the odds, especially now!” said Jeff White after winning $100,000 playing the Illinois Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day Raffle. White checked the list of 509 winning Raffle numbers on the Illinois Lottery’s website and discovered that one of them — 316771 — matched his Raffle number. “I couldn’t believe it,” he said. White has lived in Batavia for 11 years. He plans to invest the winnings for now. When asked if he had any advice for other Lottery players he said, “You’ve got to be in the game to win, and it’s fun to win. Even if you just play one dollar a week, you can’t win if you don’t play.” The winning ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven, 336 East …

She’s a 33-year Batavia resident. Here’s her name and reaction to winning.
A longtime Batavian has claimed what could be the city’s biggest Lotto prize. Ancelma Martinez is the winner of a $7.25 million Lotto jackpot, according to an Illinois Lottery news release sent on Tuesday. She won the Dec. 17 regular Lotto game drawing by matching all six numbers. “I was very surprised, I still can’t believe I won,” Martinez said in the release. Martinez found out she won when she read the winning numbers in a newspaper while eating breakfast with her husband at Lumes Pancake House, 1902 W. Fabyan Parkway. The release said she almost spilled her coffee everywhere when she saw 2-15-18-23-50-52, aka the exact numbers on her ticket. Martinez chose to take a one-time, lump sum payment of $5,513,306, minus the required …

This is the second 7-Eleven location in Batavia this year to sell a ticket worth millions. Here's more details.

A Quick Pick ticket sold in Batavia matched all six numbers in Monday’s regular Lotto game drawing. The winner has not stepped forward as of Tuesday afternoon, Wilson Street franchise owner Rick Niedfeldt told the Kane County Chronicle. These were the winning numbers: The extra shot number was 25. Niedfeldt has never sold a winning ticket worth so much—he hopes the winner is a Batavia resident, the Chronicle's story said. On St. Patrick's Day 2012, James B. of Batavia stopped by his favorite 7-Eleven in town to purchase a Lotto ticket. To his surprise, he matched all six numbers—01-03-05-12-17-18—on March 17 and won $3 million. "My wife was the first person that I shared the news with,” James told the Illinois Lottery. “She started crying when I told her we had won. She didn’t believe it even though we had always hoped for this day. It was surreal." James is a big fan of the Lotto and typically plays the same numbers. He gets his tickets from the Batavia 7-Eleven at 710 E. Fabyan Parkway. This St. Patrick's Day turned out to be an amazing day, one he will not ever forget saying it truly was a lucky day for him. James has requested that the Illinois …
