Weather Alert: An Ice Storm Cometh
A freezing rain advisory is in effect until Sunday evening.
A freezing rain advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 27 for Kane County. The National Weather Service canceled a winter storm watch originally issued on Saturday. Ice amounts of up to a couple tenths of an inch are expected, according to the Weather Service. The Weather Service predicts freezing rain mixed with sleet will arrive early Sunday afternoon. The ice accumulations might cause tree limbs and power lines to be weighed down. If winds increase it could cause power outages, according to the weather service. “Pavement and soil temperatures are below freezing. So any liquid precipitation will likely freeze on contact and result in very icy and dangerous travel conditions on untreated roadways,” The National …
