Tri-Cities residents will be choosing congressmen, state Senate and House members, Kane County officers, including county board chairman and coroner, and representation on the county board in contested races on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Notable among the contests is the clash over 6th Congressional District and 14th Congressional District seats. St. Charles and Geneva voters will choose between Barrington Democrat Leslie Coolidge and Wheaton Republican Peter Roskam in the 6th District. Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles voters will choose between Republican Randy Hultgren and Gurnee Democrat Dennis Anderson in the 14th District. I thought I was back in Cook Co. when I early voted on Saturday and had the opportunity to vote in both the IL 6th and IL 14th Congressional races. I brought it to the attention of the election worker and was told it was correct. I haven't read my copy of the Constitution in a few years but I'm pretty sure it is one Congressman at a time. Letter to the Editor: Vote for Candidates Who Respect Women’s Rights

Kane County Board candidate Nadia Blanc Daley spells out why residents should vote for her.

Dear Editor: Women make up 52% of our population, but only 17% of congressional members are women as mentioned at the “Women in Government” event at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles. This is also reflected in local and state government. As the woman candidate for Kane County Commissioner for the 14th District, I urge everyone to vote for men and women candidates in all races who respect and support women’s rights. Women as mothers, daughters and wives realize the importance of protecting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Veterans’ health care. Protecting seniors, the disabled, the mentally ill and the poor is the right thing to do in a civil society. In addition, we must deny the vote to those who would pass laws that will take away…

To the voters of Kane County: As the November 6th general election nears, you will have the opportunity to choose your coroner. The voters of Kane county have two choices: Rob Russell or Tao Martinez. Let’s examine the record of the two candidates: *Only One has investigated complicated deaths. *Only One will implement the “Team Approach” to death investigation securing the respect and cooperation of local, state, and national agencies involved in the investigation of deaths. *Only One understands that the office of coroner is an investigative/administrative position. *Only One understands and has the knowledge of the budget process. *Only One has committed to be a full-time professional coroner.
