Dawn Renee Brown, age 44, of Big Rock, IL died suddenly on Monday, November 12, 2012 at her residence. She was born August 1, 1968 in Aurora, IL. Dawn attended the English Congregational United Church of Christ in Big Rock, IL. She had worked at Nicor in Aurora, IL, Surplus Line Association in Chicago, IL and was a paramedic/firefighter with the Big Rock Fire Protection District in Big Rock, IL since 2003 and the Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District in Yorkville, IL since 2007. A 44-year-old firefighter from western Kane County died as a result of wounds sustained from a dog attack in her home, according to police. Dawn Brown was found dead Monday inside her home, located on the 400 block of Jefferson Street in Big Rock. The Kane County Coroner completed an autopsy and determined that Brown died of attack wounds from a mastiff, one of three dogs that she and her husband own. The Browns got the mastiff about a week ago from a family member, said Lt. Pat Gengler, Kane County Sheriff's Office spokesman. The dog does not have a history of aggression. Update: The coroner's office determined that Brown died as a result of wounds sustained during a dog attack that occurred inside her home. A 44-year-old firefighter was found dead Monday inside her home in western Kane County, police announced. Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Big Rock EMS found Dawn Brown deceased inside her home, located in the village of Big Rock. Deputies were dispatched to the home at about 4:15 p.m. Monday, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. "Sheriff’s Office detectives are conducting a death investigation," a Sheriff's Office statement said. "However, no foul play is suspected."
