UPDATE: Man Found By River in Batavia Loved God, Bike Riding

Brett Straight was 10 days away from graduating from a Bible-based program in Aurora. His body was found on Monday near the Fox River in Batavia.

The 46-year-old man who was found dead in Batavia on Monday had spent all year turning his life around, an Aurora program director said on Tuesday. Brett C. Straight was a resident in the Master’s Touch Ministry program at Wayside Cross Ministries in Aurora. He had lived there since December 2011. “He was doing very well,” said Randy Tomassi, the program’s director. “He was sadly within 10 days of graduation.” Straight did not make a mandatory 9:30 p.m. bed check at Wayside Cross, 215 E. Batavia Police ID Man Found Near Fox River Trail

Trauma was observed in the area of the man's head, police said. Here is his identity.

Police on Tuesday identified the 46-year-old man who was found unconscious and not breathing Monday morning near the Fox River in Batavia. The man is Brett C. Straight of the 200 block of East New York Street in Aurora, according to a Batavia Police Department press release. Trauma was observed in the area of Straight's head, police said, but did not elaborate in the release. An autopsy on Straight's body has been completed by the Kane County Coroner's Office, but the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined pending autopsy and toxicology results. 2nd Update: Male Body Found Near Fox River in Batavia; Police Call Incident 'Suspicious'

Police confirm on Monday that the body of a 46-year-old man was found east of the 500 block of North Batavia Avenue near the Fox River. He sustained injuries, officials said.

Two police departments are cooperating in an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found Monday morning along the Fox River bank on Batavia's west side. A resident discovered the 46-year-old man in an area east of the 500 block of North Batavia Avenue, and east of the bike path along the west bank of the Fox River. Batavia Police and Fire personnel were dispatched to the area at 11:23 a.m. Monday, according to a Batavia Police Department press release. Police confirmed Monday afternoon that a body was found that morning east of the Fox River Regional Trail on Batavia's west side. The body was found along the bank of the Fox River on Kane County Forest Preserve District property, officials said. A portion of the Fox River Regional Trail in Batavia was closed for over 3.5 hours on Monday as police investigated the incident and retrieved the body.
