We have some winners! Patch readers have spoken, and Shady Hill Gardens in Elburn was selected as the Favorite Local Greenhouse or Nursery. Shady Hill was chosen by having the highest number of poll votes, 22. This represents 45 percent of all votes cast. Tying for second favorite was The Pure Gardener in Geneva and the Heinz Brothers Greenhouse Garden Center in St. Charles, each with 16 percent of the vote. We have a winner! Patch readers have spoken, and The Herrington Inn in Geneva was selected as Favorite Wedding Reception Venue of the Tri Cities. Herrington was chosen by having the highest number of ratings and reviews, a total of five each. Other favorites that had at least one comment or review include Riverview Banquets in Batavia and the Geneva Golf Club on that city's west side. The Herrington is a luxury hotel that opened in 1993. In addition to 61 rooms, a spa and a restaurant, the hotel also features a banquet hall perfect for weddings. They say it's bad form to overuse sports analogies, but hey, I'm a guy. And that means I think almost exclusively in terms of sports analogies. It also means I don't have much of a clue when it comes to selecting the right floral arrangement for Valentine's Day or any other occasion, for that matter. So, if you're like me—or even if you're not like me—this "Best of the Tri-Cities" Best Florist matchup is a match made in heaven. As in any sport, the slate is wiped clean once you're in the playoffs. It all starts 0-0; anyone can win.
