Group of Cars Gets Spray Painted on North VanNortwick

Batavia Blotter: Criminal damage to property reports include a weekend car-vandalism spree.

Batavia police reports showed a slew of vehicle painting going on Saturday, May 11, and it wasn't the kind you might pay for at your favorite auto body shop. This was a spree of sorts on North VanNortwick, without a specific total amount of damage, although the cost could be a couple thousand dollars, based on the $500 repair estimate for one of the vehicles.

DUI Roundup—Driving Under the Influence Reports Include Cannabis Charge

Four driving-under-the-influence reports were filed by Batavia and Geneva police departments in blotter reports collected this week. DUI—Geneva police arrested Juan Toniz, 41, of Geneva on charges of unlawful or fictitious identification card and driving under the influence of alcohol around 11:30 a.m. May 1 in the 700 block of North Street, reports said. His vehicle was towed to Duke and Lee’s Service Corp., 609 Batavia Ave. DUI, Possession of Cannabis—Geneva police arrested Sean Hamman, 23, of Wheaton on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of cannabis less than 2.5 grams and driving on the sidewalk after a traffic stop around 5:12 a.m. May 3, reports said. Conflicts are a part of everyday life, especially for the life of a Batavia police officer. Here's a roundup of reports from April 28 to May 5, 2013. Neighborhood Trouble—Two subjects were involved around 12:19 a.m. May 5 in the 1000 block of First Street, reports said. Neighborhood Trouble—Two subjects were involved in a dispute reported around 3:04 p.m. May 2. Both were advised to stay on their own property and cease contct with one another. Disturbance—One subject was upset with the service he was receiving at Fresenius Medical, 2580 W. Fabyan Parkway around 9:57 a.m. May 1. He became loud and abusive toward staff, so police stood by until he left the facility. Harassment—Someone sent unwanted phone and text messages to a complainant, …

Someone Breaks Guardrail at Riverwalk—and Other Criminal Damage

Batavia blotter: A little criminal damage in Batavia.

Here's a roundup of criminal damage in Batavia from April 28 to May 5. CDTP—Someone shattered the front passenger window of a vehicle parted at South Randall Road and Heritage Lane sometime prior to May 5, reports said. Cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report. CDTP—A complainant discovered a broken storm window at his residence in the 600 block of Norcross Drive and reported to police around 2:36 p.m. May 4, reports said. A thick rubber ball was found near the broken window. The cost to repair the window was estimated at $50. CDTP—Someone broke the guard rail at the Riverwalk Gazebo, according to a report filed around 3:50 p.m. May 1, reports said. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $250.

Two cannabis-related items were recorded in the Batavia Police Department blotter from April 28 to May 5, 2013. Possession of Cannabis—Batavia police arrested Jeremy A. Almodovar, 20, of St. Charles on charges of possession more than 10 but less than 30 grams of cannabis around 2:32 a.m. May 5. Almodovar posted $160 bond and has a court date of June 11. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia—After receiving a complaint of about people climbing a fence in the 1500 block of South Raddant Road, Batavia police located three subjects in the 1700 block of Perna Lane, according to a report filed around 8:42 p.m. May 4. The arrestee—who was unnamed in the police report—had a Newport cigarette, baggie containing a green, leafy substance and a one-hitter …

Theft Reports: Someone Steals 'Services' by Filling Up Radio Shack Dumpster With Cut-Up Carpet

Batavia Blotter: Other thefts include a complaint at Kohl's, an $800 cellphone taken during a garage sale and texting discovered from a stolen phone.

Here's a roundup of theft reports from the Batavia Police Department files from April 29 to May 5. 2013.  Retail Theft—A retail theft was reported at Kohl’s Department Store, 251 N. Randall Road around 6:26 p.m. May 5, reports said. No further information was available at the time of the report. Theft Under $500—A complainant told police that a suspected offender has been texting with a cell phone he stole from the victim. The victim told police that he/she has received texts from the suspect, but the suspect denies taking the cellphone. Theft of Labor/Services—An employee of Radio Shack, 21 N. A Lot of Drivers Out There Operating Without a Valid License

Here is a list of folks arrested for driving with a suspended license or no valid driver's license during the past four weeks. Driving While License Suspended—Batavia police arrest Joshua Nicholson, 39, of St. Charles on charges of driving while license suspended around 6:35 a.m. April 28, reports said. Nicholson also received a warning citation for a headlight out. He has a court date of May 21. Driving While License Suspended—Batavia police arrested Kamau Kofi Kadirifu, 56, of Orland Park on charges of driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle around 2:10 p.m. April 28, reports said. Kadirifu posted an i-bond and has a court date of June 4, 2013. No Valid Driver's License—Police arrested Juventino …

Batavia Police Report Forgery Investigation

Batavia Blotter: Other items include a turned-in .22-caliber rifle and the happy news of a lost backpack eventually found.

The Batavia Police Department reported a forgery but can't say much more than that because the case is still under investigation. The forgery was one of several miscelleous items in the Batavia blotter from April 22 to April 29, including the following: Forgery—The forgery was reported in the 600 block of Paddock Lane at 4:42 p.m. April 24. "This forgery case is still pending investigation," Batavia Detective Sgt. Shawn Mazza said. "The assigned detective is currently working on locating a suspect offender and other necessary financial documents that may help us prove a criminal case." Someone Cuts Wires to Bronze Fountain Lights on Batavia Riverwalk

Criminal damage to property complaints also include $2,000 worth of damage when someone splatters paint on a car.

There weren't a lot of criminal damage complaints in the Batavia Police Department blotter between April 22 and April 29, but the two that were files were interesting. Criminal Damage to Property—Someone splattered paint on the passenger side of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of East Wilson Street. The report was made at 12:22 p.m. April 27. The estimated cost to repair the damage was $2,000. Criminal Damage to Property—A Batavia Park District employee reported that someone cut the wires to one of the bronze fountain lights in the riverwalk fountain.
