After three months of construction, McDonald's returns in a brand-new building in downtown Batavia. There will be daily specials through Dec. 9 at this location.
The golden arches are back up again in downtown Batavia. The new Batavia McDonald's is set to open this week of Dec. 3-9, Yanni Management told the Kane County Chronicle. Yanni runs nine McDonald's locations in the Tri-Cities area. Residents will finally see the inside of the brand-new building, which will include TVs in some seating areas, according to the Chronicle. Like other area McDonald's, the Batavia location had a double drive-thru installed to handle a large volume of car traffic. The new digs were constructed in the same spot of the old building, 125 W. Wilson St. Crews began to tear down the 34-year-old structure on Sept. 5 and leveled the property in about 48 hours. Officials projected a November opening, but the tentative 60-…

For laptop/desktop viewers, the video box will be at the top of the page. For iPhone/mobile version users, the video box will be at the bottom of the page. It didn't take long for those golden arches to come down. By Friday morning, the Batavia McDonald's was reduced to part of a single northwest wall of the original structure. Excavation of the downtown site began on Wednesday morning and continued through Thursday afternoon. The city's only McDonald's, located at 125 W. Wilson St., is getting an upgrade. A new building for the restaurant will be constructed in the same spot…

A crew finally began to demolish the 34-year-old building on Wednesday. Here are some quotes and pictures from the scene.
A familiar landmark in downtown Batavia began to come down in pieces on Wednesday. An excavating crew started their first full day of taking apart the old Batavia McDonald's at 125 W. Wilson St. The McDonald's sign was pulled off the roof at 2:35 p.m. Sept. 5, according to the timestamp on Batavia Patch's photos. Residents stopped to view the teardown in their cars, on their bikes and on foot. Many snapped pictures with a phone or camera, including Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke. McDonald's is clearing out its only Batavia location to make way for a new building with a double drive-thru in the same spot. The company expects to have the restaurant open sometime in November, Schielke said. The project is an exciting one for residents who have …

The old-school location on Wilson Street is coming down, according to media reports.
UPDATE: Photos of the downtown McDonald's demolition are now posted. If you want one last look at the current Batavia McDonald's, you better do it soon. That's because the existing building at 125 W. Wilson St. will be demolished to make way for an updated restaurant that includes a double drive-thru. The demolition is scheduled to begin this week, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Construction of the modern McDonald's will take about 60 days, followed by a grand opening sometime in November, according to the Aurora Beacon-News. The Batavia City Planning Commission met multiple times this year with McDonald's developers to review and vote on plans for the revamp. The upcoming 4,000-plus sq. ft. restaurant will be smaller than the current …

Been years since I've been to Batavia (used to live there when the Lincoln Inn, Schott's (across from the old high school), Villa Pizza (little carry-out place around the corner on Wilson - the BEST pizza), Twin Elms (oooh, curly fries!) and a few taverns were the ONLY places in town to eat. Definitely the old days! Anyway, for some reason, I thought the McDonald's had a train-station look, but …   more ›
