A group of talented hopefuls gathered in Batavia on Sunday in the hopes of earning a spot in a local reality show. Batavia Access Television, better known as BATV, held its first round of auditions at the Batavia Public Library for its Project Publish reality series. Each week the series will pair authors and performers together for a total cast of 14 people. The authors come up with a piece that their partner must then perform by the end of the week. The author-performer duos will compete in groups and survive weekly eliminations to be the last group standing. At least one audition on Sunday featured musical talents, as shown in pictures on this page. Rebecca Strand of Batavia performed with her guitar in front of judges. Her tryout also …

Update: Batavia defeated Lake Park 33-29. Never fear, BATV is here! Batavia Access Television secured a live webcast of Friday's Batavia Football game vs. Lake Park in Roselle. The BATV crew had battery power to provide a live game feed. Lake Park school officials, who had final say on BATV's filming, signed off on the broadcast Friday afternoon. BATV overcame a slew of logistics with trying to broadcast at the site. They had to livestream the game from the visitor's side, which does not have direct access to electricity. Calls for a generator were answered by loyal fans, but then the school wouldn't allow its use. BATV settled on battery power.
