The center was named after former Batavia School Board President and member Rosalie Jones. It opened in 2002 on the former site of the Batavia Public Library in downtown Batavia.
The district includes six elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The district covers about 20 square miles and was formed in 1911 when the separate eastside and westside Batavia school districts combined into one.
