MSNBC: Broviak Blasts GMS South Administrators for 'Rummaging' Daughter's Facebook Page

City of Geneva Public Works Assistant Director Pam Broviak says Geneva Middle School South Principal Terry Bleau and other administrators traumatized her 13-year-old daughter by demanding access to her Facebook page, according to a story posted on MSNBC.

A story posted Friday morning (May 18, 2012) on MSNBC and USEC Network International Magazine says the city of Geneva's assistant public works director is at odds with Geneva Middle School South administrators for forcing her 13-year-old daughter to log into her Facebook page and show them personal information. Pam Broviak, who also is the Public Works Department's civil engineer, says Geneva Middle School South Principal Terry Bleau and other administrators were anything but civil when they demanded that Broviak's daughter reveal personal information on the 13-year-old's Facebook page—according to the article written by Bob Sullivan and posted shortly before 6 a.m. Sullivan is "a consumer reporter at msnbc and author of three books on …

Rick, I appreciate you questioning the inclusion of my work into this - I was also surprised to see that mentioned here. What I do to support my family has absolutely nothing to do with this matter, and my concern over my child's education has nothing to do with my work. The original story did not mention my work at all.   more ›

St. Charles East Student Loses Battle with Cancer

Anna Michele Daley, a junior on the golf team, died Tuesday.

A member of the St. Charles East girl's golf team lost a fight with leukemia Tueday night, according to District 303 officials. Anna Michele Daley, a junior at East, died after battling cancer, confirmed Jim Blaney, communications director for District 303. Daley was diagnosed with cancer in August. Her teammates played this season with "Anna" stitched on the right sleeves of their golf shirts. In response to Daley's diagnosis, East golfers’ mothers Amy Crane and Caroline Cayton have organized a bone marrow drive for Daley to coincide with the North-East football game on Oct. 21. In addition to playing on the golf team, Daley was involved in the Leadership Council at East, Blaney said. Several Patch readers sent emails saying students were…

St. Charles East Students Find Creative Ways to Ask for Prom Dates

Video posted on Youtube.

UPDATE: Several readers have commented or sent emails that the young lady being addressed at the end of the video said "yes" and will accompany the young man to the prom. A reader found this video of a St. Charles East student finding a creative way to seek a date for Saturday's prom. The video is set to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," and features students and what appears to be faculty members having a ball as they get ready for the prom. The video ends with a young man asking a young lady out for the big dance. Do you know who these folks are? Give us a shout if you know someone in the video or if you are in the video. Let us know if you found your date. Tell us about your prom plans.

BHS' 'Dearly Beloved' Brings Texas to Batavia

Directed by Josh Casburn, this was the first-ever public performance in the Batavia Fine Arts Centre Black Box Theatre.

The Black Box Theatre, if you've never been in one, literally lives up to its name. The intimate theatre seats 90 and has a stage surrounded by the audience on three sides. It is indeed black and lends itself to making the audience feel as if they are part of the action, up close and personal. In the Batavia High School production of Dearly Beloved, by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten and directed by Joshua Casburn, the audience are the wedding guests (though all of the action stays on stage). The setting is that of a small Texan town, called Fayro, where the bride is missing. While everyone in town is chasing after the bride, there are particularly tacky entertainers that "stall" the impatient wedding guests during …
