Veterans Day Tributes, Cheerleader Extravaganza, Scandinavian Cottages Make For Wonderful Week Ahead

Veterans Day Celebrations
Schools throughout the area are honoring veterans with a variety of events on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. Louise White School will honor veterans with a special breakfast and ceremony.
Congressman Randy Hultgren and keynote speaker Col. Paul Hastings will be among the dignitaries for a special Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m. at The Hanger, Batavia VFW Post 1197, 645 S. River St., Batavia.
Cottages in the Woods
Looking ahead to next weekend, a dozen Scandinavian charming cottages open their doors to you at Geneva's Good Templar Park. The "Cottages in the Woods" Scandinavian craft sale takes place Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16 and 17.
Tole painting, dalamaling, Dala Horse carving, Swedish water color are just a few of the demonstrations inside the cute cottages on the wooded grounds. Santa Lucia in costume will escort visitors to the Christmas Cottage to share her Swedish Christmas legend, and Tomte (Swedish Santa) will roam the grounds and greet visitors. It's a fun day for families or a gathering of girlfriends! Admission charge is $5.
Cheerleading Extravaganza
On Sunday, Nov. 17, Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles high school students will be among the 150 cheerleaders gathering at Batavia High School to perform their routines at the Batavia Cheer Showcase on Sunday, Nov. 17. The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Batavia High School, 1201 Main St. in Batavia.
Homes for a Changing Region
What will homes in Batavia look like in 30 years? What kinds of homes will Batavia residents want in 30 years? Come learn about national, regional, and local housing trends that will shape housing supply and demand over that time. Then give us your input!
The Homes for a Changing Region meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Batavia City Council Room, 100 North Island Ave.
