Thank You for All You Do

Batavia United Way hosted an event to thank 2010's major donors, sponsors, volunteers and the agencies they support. Read about the honorees and check out pictures of the event.

One can never say “thank you” enough. In any way, shape or form, we all like to be thanked for giving of ourselves. I know it is true for myself that by receiving a meaningful thank you, even for the smallest of things, I feel appreciated and am more likely to share time, talents or treasure again.

On March 10, Batavia United Way hosted an event to sincerely thank major donors, sponsors, volunteers and supported agencies for their assistance in 2010. Batavia United Way board members mingled with approximately 65 invited guests over refreshments in a stunning space (located at 160 First Street in Batavia) which was donated by Batavia Enterprises for the occasion.

Enticing Cuisine and Aldi of Batavia were also in-kind donators to the event.  Several representatives of the Fox Valley Young Professionals (a new area networking group) generously helped with set-up, clean-up and also as beverage servers.

Major donor companies were presented with plaques honoring their support, while a number of other long time supporters and volunteers were presented certificates. Sponsors from last year’s events were also acknowledged.

Unbeknownst to Jody Haltenhof, Executive Director of Batavia United Way, the Board planned to honor her for 15 years of service. President Peter Donat thanked her and board members presented Haltenhof with flowers, a gift certificate to Tribella Bar & Grill and an engraved blown glass paperweight.

According to Jody Haltenhof, the event was held to acknowledge ongoing support by area companies and residents.

“It is imperative to let the supporters of Batavia United Way know that they are genuinely appreciated,” says Haltenhof. “The economy has been tough on donations all over, so it is very important that people and businesses understand that when they share their hard-earned dollars or their time, it is valued.”
