Literacy Volunteers Needed

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley is hosting a free tutor training workshop for residents who want to help adults improve their English.

The four-session workshop will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 11, 13, 18 and 20 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at the St. Charles Public Library.

Each trained volunteer will be matched with one adult learner. Pairs meet for one hour per week at various locations in Central Kane County including the St. Charles, Batavia and Geneva Public Libraries, Town & Country Public Library in Elburn, Richmond and Davis Schools in St. Charles and the Batavia Apartments Community Room.

Volunteers do not need to know a second language or have a background in education to help. According to learners, the most successful tutors are good listeners and give practical information. Staff members provide continuing support.

To register or for more information about the workshop, visit www.lvfv.org or call 630-584-4428.
