Weekend Planner: Tri Cities Area Events, Labor Day Holiday

Here's some ways to enjoy the long weekend in Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles.

Saturday, Sept. 1

When/Where: Noon to 3 p.m., Registration, 9 a.m. to noon, Martin Family Farm, 2S111 Green Road, Elburn

Why Go?: This event features vehicles of all kinds with a lively crowd and music. The entrance fee goes to a different charity each year, and this year the funds will benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

How Much?: $5 per car (spectators only), $10 per car (if part of show)

Note: The car show has a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 2.

When/Where: 8 p.m. (Matinee 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2), 951 State Ave., St. Charles

Why Go?: Peter Shaffer's Tony-Award winner for Best Play in 1975, Equus, is the first show of the new Vero Voce Theatre in St. Charles.

How Much?: $20 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors

Sunday, Sept. 2

Batavia Block Party

When/Where: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., , Houston Street and Island Avenue, Batavia.

Why Go?: Music, dancing, Bags Tournament with a Cash Prize, $2 Tastings, Drink Specials

How Much?: FREE (not including food and drink, donation also optional)
