We're No. 1,967! Bulldogs' 2013 Football Rankings, Schedule
The first game of the season—against Glenbard North—should be a doozy.
According to MaxPreps, Batavia has the 1,967th best high school football team in America going into the 2013 season.
The Bulldogs are the 74th-best team in the state, regardless of enrollment, and the 17th best in Class 7A.
How they figure these things in anybody's guess, but you'd think a team that finished 9-1 last year might get a little more respect. Glenbard West has the No. 1 ranking in Class 7A, followed by Lincoln-Way East, Lake Zurich and Wheaton North.
Head Coach Dennis Piron's team doesn't face any of those 7A teams—not until the playoffs, at any rate—but they do face a very tough test in the first three games and the key to the season will be how well the Bulldogs come out of the gate.
The first three games—against perennial powerhouse Glenbard North, strong 6A-size Richards and Geneva—should set the tone for the season. Glenbard North is ranked 221st in the nation, eighth in Illinois and fourth in Class 8A, according to MaxPreps. Richards was 9-2 last year, and while Geneva is unranked after a 4-5 showing, the rivalry game is always hard-fought.
All the regular-season games this year are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., except against Streamwood on Sept. 21 and Larkin on Oct. 5.
