Fox River Spring Clean-Up Today, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Batavians For A Healthy River (BHR) is recruiting volunteers for a Fox River Cleanup in Batavia on Saturday, May 21, 8:30 AM to Noon. The group will meet at the parking lot on Rt. 25 by Clark Island and the Skate Park.  The Batavia Park District and the City will be assisting with the clean-up and restoration efforts.  This cleanup will focus on shoreline and river cleanup. Volunteers should dress appropriately and bring work gloves. Trash bags will be provided. A few canoes are needed and volunteers experienced in removal of trash from the river. Those with waders should bring them.

All Batavia citizens are invited to volunteer for this effort.  Please join us on the 21st to make this a true community event for the betterment of our environment and our City.  The more volunteers we get, the more extensive and meaningful will be our river cleanup/ litter and trash removal accomplishment.  Volunteers interested in participating the cleanup can just show up on May 21st. However, those with questions or any who are organizing small groups to participate can better assist in the planning by contacting Jessi DeMartini at 630-871-7548.

All participants will be asked to sign a waiver form. All children must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult and must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.  For more information and to obtain a waiver in advance visit the Batavians for a Healthy River Website at www.bataviansforahealthyriver.org.
