Bulldogs Make Short Work of the Barbs, 48-6

Batavia beats DeKalb handily in the first round of the IHSA Class 6A playoffs.

DeKalb scored the first touchdown, but that was it. After that, it was nada, zip, zilch, zero, as the Bulldogs scored the next 48 points and danced away with an easy home field win in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

The Barbs' Dre Brown has had much-deserved attention this year, and he scored that first touchdown with less than two minutes elapsed off the first-quarter clock.

But it was Batavia's Anthony Scaccia and the Bulldogs' offensive line that stole the show. Scaccia scored three times in the first half, four times overall, and racked up more than 200 yards rushing on the night. Kevin Green added two rushing touchdowns, and Blake Crowder added a 7-yard touchdown run.

The Bulldogs led 14-6 after the first quarter, 35-6 at the half and 41-6 after three quarters.

Next up: Rolling Meadows.
