Bulldogs Make History With Third-Straight UEC Championship

Football team has one regular-season game remaining before IHSA playoffs.

Written by Claire Jacobi

The Bulldogs were able to celebrate more than just a regular season win on Friday night as they took on the St Charles East Saints at Bulldog Stadium. It was also “Pink Night” to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The stadium was filled with bulldog fans covered with pink. The team also contributed, wearing pink cleats, socks, tape, and other accessories. Special stickers of initials were personally made to place on helmets, to remember family and friends that have dealt with cancer.

The Bulldogs beat the Saints, 47-14, but that wasn’t all. Batavia made history as the Bulldogs football team became conference champions for the third year in a row.

Running back Anthony Scaccia lead the bulldogs with 196 total yards, having three touchdowns just in the first quarter.

Going into halftime, the outcome of the game looked pretty clear. Micah Coffey threw a 10 yard pass to Noah Frazier with 12 seconds to go, to make the score 40-0 and push the Bulldogs toward their eighth conference title in 18 years.

Led by Anthony Thielk and Donovan Kilker, Batavia’s defense held off the Saints, holding them scoreless for the first three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, the Saints scored two touchdowns, one by quarterback Jimmy Mitchell and another by A.J. Washington.

The Bulldogs take on Elgin at home Friday, Oct. 25, on Senior Night
