Batavia Basketball Update: Boys and Girls Teams Defeat Larkin

The Royals faced the fury of the Bulldogs this weekend. Here's a quick recap.

Larkin was no match for not one but two varsity teams this weekend.

The Batavia Girls Basketball Team defeated the Royals at the Oswego Holiday Tournament 81-48. The team was led in scoring by junior forward Katie Ryan with 17 points.

The Batavia boys basketball team also trounced Larkin, going for a 57-39 win on Friday.

The Batavia girls played in the 7th place game due to losing a three-way tie break with Minooka and Hampshire, said Kevin Jensen, head girls basketball coach.

  • Sophomore guard Liza Fruendt had 13 points
  • Junior guards Miranda Grizaffi and Sami Villarreal each had 11 points
  • Senior guard Heather Anderson, senior forward Tamar Norville and junior center Paige Zochert each added 7 points

Fruendt was also named to the All-Tournament team. The girls were 2-2 in the Oswego tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-7 on the season. The boys are now 3-4, 1-2.
