AT THE HALF: Batavia 17, Geneva 14

The Vikings were the first to put numbers on the board, but the Bulldogs inch ahead thanks to an opportunity fumble. It was a tight game at Burgess Field Friday.

It was a close one.

The Bulldogs led by three points after an action-packed first half that saw penalties and some key fumbles.

First Half

Vikings Quarterback Matt Williams had a one-yard touchdown run to start things off.

A fumble by Batavia Running Back Austin Lindquist caused a turnover, but the Vikings were not able to work it to their favor. Geneva got to a field goal attempt, but it was no good with 2:39 left in the first quarter.

Batavia's first touchdown was from Alec Lyons from 3 yards out. Kicker Brandon Clabough missed the extra point, but made another later before  the half.

The big gamechanger in the first half was Geneva's bad snap on a punt. Batavia recovered it and carried it into the endzone to put them over.

Batavia had to start the second half with the penalty, but they finished the half ahead. This is the first game all season that Batavia started out at a deficit.

Batavia and Geneva are both undefeated so far this season.
