Prevent Summer Learning Lag With District 101 Programs

Want your kids to keep sharp during the summer? Too few jobs available for them to keep busy? Consider the offerings of the Batavia 2013 Summer Program Guide.

Through its 2013 Summer Programs, Batavia Public School District 101 will again offer targeted learning opportunities for students who may benefit from academic instruction and enrichment activities during the summer.

Program Offerings

The following tuition-based programs will be offered to students, beginning in June:

Taste of Kindergarten | June 17–July 12, 2013 | Rotolo Middle School
Children about to enter kindergarten will be given an introduction to the kindergarten curriculum through developmentally appropriate activities such as music, story time and creative arts.

Enrichment K-8 | June 17–July12, 2013| Rotolo Middle School
This enrichment program offers nearly thirty academic, creative, and exploratory classes for students in grades K-8. Students are able to explore and develop a variety of interests and receive supportive instruction in areas that need to be strengthened.

Math and Reading Skills | June 17 – July 12, 2013 | Rotolo Middle School
The purpose of this summer school program is to work on critical reading and mathematics skills, which have not been mastered during the school year.

Grand Rapids Academic Summer Program (GRASP Mail-In Program)
The purpose of this supplemental summer program is to work on critical reading and mathematics skills, which may need review during the summer. The program serves the needs of students who are average or just slightly below average in achievement in these two areas.

Band and Orchestra | July 29th –August 9, 2013 | Batavia High School
Incoming 5th grade students who have previously registered for orchestra (violin, viola, cello, and bass) or band (flute, oboe, clarinet, cornet/trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, and percussion) for the 2013-2014 school year are required to participate in summer lessons.

Registration
Registration for all 2013 Summer Programs is now open and will continue through Monday, June 3, 2013. Please take the following steps to register a student for any of the programs:
1. Download and review the 2013 Summer Program Guide 
2. Print the applicable registration and emergency notification forms
3. Take completed forms and payment to your child’s school office or mail to the address provided

Confirmation
Please consider your submitted registration form and payment as confirmation of your student’s registration. You will be notified by phone, only if classes are cancelled.

Course Cancellation
Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled. In order to avoid cancellation of a course due to low enrollment, early registration is recommended.
