Liquid Nitrogen Leads To False Fire Alarm At Rotolo

Students were outside for about 15 minutes while Batavia firemen checked and secured the building. No one was hurt.

Some liquid nitrogen triggered a false fire alarm today at Rotolo Middle School, according to a principal's online message. No one was injured in the incident.

The nitrogen was in use at about 12:4o p.m. during a demonstration at the end of a science assembly, said Rotolo Principal Steve Maciejewski.

Once the alarm went off, the school's roughly 1,500 students spent 15 minutes outside while the Batavia Fire Department checked and secured the building.
