It's Official: Batavia Schools Closed Monday

"We were looking forward to welcoming back the students and staff after the winter break, but we made this decision with student safety in mind," Superintendent Dr. Lisa Hichens says.

It's official: Batavia public schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, due to the extreme cold temperatures.

Superintendent Dr. Lisa Hichens made the announcement on the School District 101 website Sunday.

"Due to the hazardous conditions created by extreme temperatures, Batavia Public School District is canceling school for Monday, Jan. 6," Hichens said. "We were looking forward to welcoming back the students and staff after the winter break, but we made this decision with student safety in mind."

The School District has upgraded Messenger, the district's notification system.
