Extreme Cold Shuts Down Batavia Public Schools Monday

Wind chills are expected to get as low as 45 below zero Monday, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.

Batavia School District 101 officials made the call to close public schools Monday, due to the extreme cold weather.

"Batavia Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 27, due to dangerous weather conditions. No decision has been made for Tuesday, Jan. 28," the District 101 website says.

Extreme cold is expected again Tuesday, so stay tuned to the website for further updates.

The School District closed schools Monday, Jan. 7, and Tuesday, Jan. 8, this year.

Wind chills are expected to get as low as 45 below zero Monday, according to the National Weather Service Chicago. a Wind Chill Warning is in effect from 3 a.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Wednesday. (That's right, Wednesday.)
