Guest speaker Dr. Christopher T. Hill will discuss
the role of quantum theory as it pertains to today’s physical world.
According to Hill, most of the world-wide Gross Domestic Product is owed to the quantum theory through such inventions as transistors, lasers, and our derived
understanding of atoms and the various states of matter. Nonetheless, quantum theory is enigmatic, and grossly challenges our understanding of reality.
Hill is a theoretical physicist at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, an ex officio head of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Theoretical Physics Department, and co-author of Quantum Physics for Poets.
