BPS101 Website Earns Award from INSPRA

Visitors to the site can view information about schools, read feature stories and other district news, access information to help students achieve academic success, and view school board agendas, meeting times and minutes.

Batavia Public School District 101 has been honored with an Award of Merit in the website category from the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA).

The recognition was given this afternoon as a part of the annual INSPRA Communications Contest, which recognizes high quality school publications and materials that promote the mission and message of a school district.

More than 150 entries from professionals across Illinois were submitted in twelve different categories for judging by a panel of experts in the field of communications.   The judges applied a rubric and evaluated each entry against the highest standards and only those receiving top scores in a variety of areas received awards.

“Batavia Public Schools is honored to receive this award from INSPRA,” said Chief Information Officer, Anton Inglese.   “This award tells me we are on the right track in website design and utility and it is greatly appreciated by our information technology and communications teams.”

Revamped and launched last year, the district website was created as part of the district’s efforts to develop better communication channels with parents, community members, students and staff.

“We are committed to finding new ways to reach, engage and involve our community,” Inglese said. “From our school board and superintendent to our classroom teachers, parents and students, our website has become a tool critical to the success of Batavia Public Schools.”

Superintendent Lisa Hichens said, “We are pleased to receive this award, and will continue to make use of technology and other tools to communicate the great things that are going on in the district.”

INSPRA hosts workshops and programs throughout the year that provide opportunities for members to learn and grow in their craft. The awards ceremony and luncheon is a highlight of the year and was attended by communications professionals, superintendents, board of education members and other school leaders.
