Batavia Teen's Family To Accept Her Diploma

The family of Lynlee Gilbert, who died in a car crash last month, will receive her diploma tonight during graduation ceremonies at Batavia High School.

The family of Lynlee Gilbert, the victim of a car crash last month, will be at graduation ceremonies tonight to receive her diploma, according to published reports.

Jeff Gilbert told the Kane County Chronicle that he would have preferred his daughter receive the diploma herself, because "she worked hard for it."

The 17-year old was to graduate this evening with the class of 2011.

She was killed on May 16 after the car she was driving crashed into a tree along Green Road just south of Hughes Road. The only other passenger in the car, Sarah Gintner, 18, of Batavia continues to recover from serious injuries sustained in the crash.

Gintner's condition has improved enough for her to enter rehab this week, according to a Facebook page set up by her family.

Batavia High School Graduation ceremonies for the class of 2011 begin at 6:00 p.m.
