Batavia School Board Accepts Barshinger's Resignation, Talks Steps For Replacement

Tuesday's meeting looked back at Jack Barshinger's work and forward to the search process for a new Batavia superintendent.

The Batavia School Board on Tuesday formally accepted the resignation of the district's top leader.

The Board voted 6-0 to accept Jack Barshinger's resignation as superintendent, effective June 30, 2013. Board member Jack Hinterlong was absent.

on Aug. 20 at a district event to start off the school year. He has been superintendent since 2006.

Batavia will be a better place for the things that Barshinger has brought here, Board President Ron Link said during the Tuesday night meeting.

"I’m honored to know him, and honored to being a part of bringing him to Batavia," Link said. "He’s going to be missed ... I want to thank him for his service."
