Want to Be on the Fox Valley Park District Board? Applications Now Accepted

Applicants may submit a resume and cover letter to the County Board Office outlining their qualifications and explaining their interest in the position.

Applications from Kane County residents interested in the next available Kane County appointment(s) to the Fox Valley Park District will be accepted at the Kane County Board Office through Nov. 22.

A formal vetting process by a special advisory panel is scheduled to begin Nov. 25 and selections presented to the full County Board on Dec. 10.

Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen has the responsibility to make
appointments to the District and fill the vacancies with the advice and consent of the Kane County Board. The Fox Valley Park District is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees. County Board chairmen appoint the Board in the counties that have a proportionate share of the population in the district.

The Kane County Board Chair appoints six members and the DuPage County Board Chair appoints one member. Kane County is neither the employer nor joint employer of Park District personnel but is the appointment agency with executive oversight.

Each board member is equally responsible for seeing that the parks are properly managed in terms of planning, policy and decisions upon which the board has reached agreement in a regular or special meeting. The members of the Board of Trustees are lay persons appointed to sit as members of the Board of Trustees and act on behalf of the welfare and to the benefit of the people in the district.

More information can be found at foxvalleyparkdistrict.org.
