Renovations to Downtown McDonald's in the Works
McDonald's proposed renovations to their downtown restaurant in Batavia.
Renovations to the downtown are on the horizon, city officials said.
The city last week received the preliminary plans for the redesign of the existing restaurant at 125 W. Wilson St. Officials will begin to discuss the plans in detail this spring.
The Batavia restaurant location is 30 years old and must modernize to the corporation's standards. The city will make sure the building is of high quality and enhances the downtown area, Alderman Mike O’Brien said on Tuesday.

“It’s not going to be a generic building," Alderman Dave Brown added.
Previously, McDonald's proposed relocating the Batavia location to the northwest corner of Island Avenue and Houston Street in Nov. 2010, but their plans with Preferred Development Inc. of Chicago and the Batavia Park District didn't pan out. Since the in November, it is to move, City Administrator Bill McGrath said.
