Batavia Property Assessments Coming Soon

Geneva Township's property tax assessments were published July 9, 2013, in the Kane County Chronicle, so you know Batavia Township's will be coming soon.

Kane County publishes the tax assessments each year, of course, and you always can find your assessment via a property search on the Batavia Township Assessor's website.

Geneva Township residents have until Aug. 8 to appeal their assessments. An appeal deadline for Batavia Township will be announced once the assessments are published.

After all revisions and corrections by the Township Assessor are applied, an equalization factor of 0.9553 was applied to all non-farm property in Geneva Township.

Tammy J. Kavanaugh is the Batavia Township assessor. She can be reached at the Batavia Township website or by phone at 630-879-1323. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For information about property in any Kane County township, you can call the Township Assessor's Office (telephone directory here) or visit the Township Assessor's website (web directory here).

To obtain complaint forms and a copy of the Rules and Procedures of the Kane County Board of Review, visit www.KaneCountyAssessments.org/BOR.htm or call 630-208-3818. Again, if you have questions about the publication of assessments, call the Board of Review office at 630-208-3818.

Additional workshops are scheduled for July 30, Aug. 6, Aug. 13, and Aug. 20, Sept. 3, Sept. 10, and Sept. 17.  All will begin at 6 p.m. in the same location. The workshops will:

  • Help taxpayers understand how property taxes work, including how government spending affects property taxes.
  • Dispel myths about assessments and their relationships with property taxes.
  • Explain the assessment complaint process, and provide the necessary forms and rules for filing complaints.
  • Provide an opportunity for taxpayers to make sure they have all homestead exemptions to which they are entitled.

The workshops are not forums to discuss any specific individual assessments; these questions are best directed to the assessor of the township in which the property is located.
