Batavia-Geneva 20-Year Boundary Agreement Up For Renewal

Some areas on the far east and west sides have yet to be annexed and are still in question.

The 20-year boundary agreement between Batavia and Geneva is set to expire and the two cities are expected to extend it for another 20 years.

The agreement centers on what has become a natural boundary: Fabyan Parkway. A memo from Batavia City Administrator Bill McGrath cites two areas between the cities that haven't been annexed to date—Thompson Farm, about 80 acres at the southeast corner of Fabyan and Wenmoth Road, and on the Geneva side hundreds of acres to the north of Fabyan east of Kirk Road.

The memo states that the city of Batavia has sized sewer and water to support some residential development on Wenmoth and that both cities have sized their sewer and water utilities in light of this agreement.

A draft of the new agreement is expected to mirror the previous one, with the addition of electricity to the list of utilities that Batavia could service with an agreement from Geneva.

McGrath indicates a new agreement will continue the stability in that area along the natural boundary of Fabyan Parkway.
