Batavia Candidates Invited to Blog on Patch

For the political blogs prior to the April 9 election, we will screen comments and ask commenters to sign their full, real names.

Batavia Patch is inviting all candidates in the upcoming April 9 election to blog on Patch.

And to encourage your participation in blogging prior to April 9, we'll offer to screen comments and allow only those from Patch users willing to sign with a full name.

To blog on Batavia Patch, look for the column of "Local Voices" on the home page, and click "Want to Blog on Patch?"

Blogging is a great opportunity for candidates to reach our large and continually-growing Batavia audience, without cost, and to talk about issues that are important to the community.

You retain ownership of all your posts, so you can write original articles or just copy and paste existing press releases or email messages into a blog post. You can set up an account and begin posting within minutes. If you include a photo, video or PDF, we can feature your blogs prominently on our home page and share them with our network via social media and newsletters.

Of course, we can allow all comments if you like, but if you'd rather limit the comments to folks who post a full name, please add this to the end of your blog:

  • Batavia candidates welcome comments and questions from the public. Each commenter is asked to provide a full name, either via the username or by including your full name at the end of the comment. Anonymous comments will be omitted or deleted. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Patch Editor Rick Nagel at rickn@patch.com.

Obviously, blogging is open to everyone, but this exception is for candidates only. We hope all candidates will make use of this forum—including but not limited to candidates for alderman, School Board, Park Board, Library Board and Township Board.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and otherwise, thanks for your consideration and for sharing news with us!
