Weather Alert: Snow Is Coming—Up to 3 Inches, Lousy Friday Commute Home

OK, now that we've seen the fourth-warmest January in all of history, we're getting snow and subzero temperatures, starting Feb. 10.

It's going to be a crummy commute when you come home today, Friday, Feb. 10.

Expect about 1 to 2 inches in Kane County through this afternoon. Snowfall is likely this afternoon into the early evening in Kane County. There could be as much as 6 inches near the lake.

The NWS-Chicago has issued a Hazardous Weather Warning to go along with the snow.

There will be cool temps tonight, as well as Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Looking ahead, more light snow Monday and Tuesday.

All of this follows the news that we saw the fourth-warmest January of all time.

Still, you have to worry a little about the plants that began to bud recently and the birds, which are already singing their spring love songs. It's been a whacky—and out of whack—winter, hasn't it?

Friday Afternoon Forecast

Cloudy with snow early in the afternoon, and then snow showers late in the afternoon. There will likely be a total accumulation of 1 to 2 inches.

High temps will be in the lower 30s, but they will drop into the mid 20s by evening. There will be winds gusts of up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Evening Forecast

Cloudy at first, then clear skies. Low temps 11 to 15 degrees. There will be some 30 mph wind gusts.

Saturday Forecast

Cant help but noticing that the plants are already, out of "whack",as the daffodils, in front of our house are now about 6 to 8 inches high, and the viburnum are budding! Hope we don't get our usual "killing freeze, in early April!!!
