UPDATE: Sandwich Man Turns Himself In For Batavia Sculpture Damages

Two men from Batavia were also charged in connection to vandalizing the "Self-Made Man" sculpture.

The 43-year-old Sandwich, IL man who was named in connection with damaging a Batavia sculpture turned himself in on Friday, police said.

Steve L. Piron, of 805 Karen Rd., turned himself in to Batavia Police on an outstanding warrant for criminal damage to state property.

Piron, and two other men from Batavia, were charged last week in connection with the April 24 vandalizing of the “Self-Made Man” sculpture which is at River and State streets, according to a police report.

Piron posted $2,500 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 24.

The sculpture was found toppled from its base on April 24, according to police.
