UPDATE: Half-Million Bail Set For Kane Co. Motorcycle Rider in Chase

Renato Barsellotti remains in the Kane County Jail following a July 18 high-speed motorcycle chase.

A Kane County judge set bail recently for a 27-year-old Elgin man accused of aggravated battery to a police officer and fleeing from sheriff's deputies.

Renato Barsellotti remains in the Kane County Jail on $500,000 bond, according to county court records.

To apply for bond and be released, Barsellotti or someone else needs to post 10 percent of the bail, or $50,000.

Barsellotti faces multiple charges, including two counts each of aggravated battery to a police officer and aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.

Deputies initially observed Barsellotti riding at speeds over 80 mph west of Elgin after midnight on July 18. When they caught up to him, Barsellotti and sped away, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The pursuit went into Elgin and back out west, where police said Barsellotti struck a Pingree Grove officer. He was finally spotted about five hours later with the aid of an FBI plane.

The next court date for this case is July 30 for a status hearing, according to court records.
