UPDATE: Batavia Teen Jailed After Throwing Another Underage Drinking Party

The 19-year-old host of the party on Saturday threw another party on Sunday. Here are the charges he faces.

The Batavia teen behind Saturday’s underage drinking party was sent to jail after he held another drinking party late Sunday night, according to police and court records.

Andrew Pederson, 19, was sent to the Kane County Jail early Monday morning. He faces several charges stemming from Sunday’s party, including criminal damage to a police vehicle and residential delivery of alcohol to a minor.

Officers once again responded to Pederson’s address on the 800 block of Pottawatomie Trail in Batavia. They were dispatched at 11:26 pm. on Sunday, according to a police report.

Police located 12 people in the home at the time of the party. Nine of the guests had a zero percent blood alcohol concentration (BAC).

The other three teens, all age 18, were issued City Ordinance Tickets for Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol. They are:

  • Alvaro Velazquez, of the 200 block of Lathem St., Batavia
  • Kristi A. Smith, of the 48W200 block of Kaneland Drive near Maple Park
  • Lydia G. Scoaro, of the 0-99 block of Winthrop New Road, Sugar Grove

Each ticket carries a $50 fine.

Charges For Pederson

Pederson was arrested, handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle. There was damage to the frame of one of the car doors where it had been pushed out from inside while Pederson was in the vehicle, the report said.

The door’s window was also off track and would not roll up or down.

Batavia Police contacted the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, who authorized the following charges on Pederson:

  • One count of Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property, less than $500
  • One count of Misdemeanor Escaping A Peace Officer
  • One count of Resisting a Peace Officer/Corrections Employee
  • One count of Residential Delivery of Alcohol to a minor
  • One count of Consumption of Liquor as a Minor

Pederson also received two misdemeanor charges from . Those charges are:

  • One count of Residential Delivery of Alcohol to a Minor
  • One count of Consumption of Liquor as a Minor

During the Saturday party, a total of 20 teens (not including Pederson) were issued City Ordinance Tickets for Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol.

Pederson's case heads back to court on July 25 for a status hearing, according to court records. Jail records also list another court date this week.
