Two Men Rob North Aurora Market At Gunpoint Sunday Night

The men tied up a store clerk and locked the door, police said. Here's more details, including suspect descriptions.

Two men robbed a North Aurora store at gunpoint on Sunday, police announced Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at Sunny’s Supermarket, 5 S. Lincolnway, North Aurora police said. North Aurora patrol officers were dispatched to the store at 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers found the store clerk with his hands bound behind his back. They learned that five to six minutes before their arrival, two suspects entered the store, both armed with handguns.

One of them pointed a gun at him and demanded money from the cash register while the other one locked the front doors, according to a press release. The clerk complied and opened the cash register. He was then pushed to the floor and bound.

The suspects took an unknown amount of money and left through the back door.

Officers completed an area search with the assistance of a Naperville Police Department canine with negative results.

The shop that was robbed is located at the southeast corner of Route 31 and 56 (State Street), just west of the Fox River. It is across the street from the North Aurora 7-Eleven.

Suspect Descriptions

Here are some descriptions of the two suspects, provided by police. Each man had a black and silver semi-automatic handgun.

Suspect #1

  • Male
  • Black
  • Between 5'7" and 5'10" tall
  • About 150 lbs.
  • Wore black mask, all black clothing, black boots, and black gloves

Suspect #2

  • Male
  • Unknown race
  • Between 5'7" and 5'10" tall
  • About 150 lbs.
  • Wore black mask, dark shirt/jacket, black pants, boots, and gloves

Other Recent Robberies

The Sunday night robbery comes on the heels of a major break in the local Subway armed robbery cases from November. in connection to those robberies, which took place in Batavia and North Aurora.

This man was also charged related to robbing a on Dec. 29, and the Elgin State Bank robbery on Jan. 18 .

The last market-related robbery in North Aurora was on Oct. 29, when two men .
