UPDATE: Keslinger Road Shut Down Between Peck and Lea, Some School Buses Delayed

Patch will follow up when information is available from official sources.

Keslinger Road was closed between Peck and Lea a little after 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, apparently due to a damaged gas line, according to Tri-Com Dispatch reports.

Geneva School District 304 was notified regarding bus transportation, and officials notified parents that some buses would be about 10 minutes late.

Nicor told the Kane County Chroniclethat a "third party" struck the gas line.

School District 304 posted this message on its website around 1:54 p.m.

"Geneva School District buses may be delayed by up to 10 minutes this afternoon due the closing of Keslinger Road near the district’s transportation facility.

"Early reports indicate there is a leak in a natural gas line along Keslinger Road, and crews are currently attempting to remedy the situation. The closing of Keslinger Road is expected to last at least two hours.

"Students and staff are safe, but the closing of Keslinger Road between Peck Road and our transportation facility will force the rerouting of many buses via Fabyan Parkway, which could delay them by approximately 10 minutes.  Drivers are being called in early to help mitigate the delays."

At 4:15 p.m., an officer on the scene reported, "Leak stopped," and said Keslinger Road would be opened up soon.
